Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, "Knowing and Enjoying Mapo's Public Services Properly Is the Residents' Right"
Residents of Mapo-gu will now be able to easily access all living information and public service details about Mapo-gu anytime and anywhere.
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) announced that for the first time this year, it has produced the "Mapo User Manual," which comprehensively covers all life-related information including public services, major facility statuses, and cultural and artistic events in Mapo-gu.
The "Mapo User Manual," which started from the mayor's idea that "a guide for residents is needed to properly know and enjoy Mapo," is significant in that it integrates essential information from previously separately produced and distributed brochures by departments or institutions into one complete volume without omissions.
The "Mapo User Manual" is organized into four parts and an appendix, containing information essential for the daily lives of Mapo-gu residents.
The first part includes the most useful information for residents who have just moved to Mapo-gu, such as correct garbage disposal guidelines, various civil complaint application information, and specialized consultations by field?covering the most necessary daily life information.
The second part contains customized information by age group and type. It introduces in detail various welfare benefits and public services closely related to daily life in areas such as childbirth preparation couples, infants and toddlers, youth, elderly, jobs, economy, pets, transportation, safety, and environment.
The third part reflects the characteristics of Mapo-gu as a representative cultural and tourism autonomous district of South Korea, including must-visit major tourist spots in Mapo such as Hongdae Red Road and Nanji Themed Tourism Forest Trail, as well as parks, culture, and festivals.
The fourth part enhances convenience by including the locations, phone numbers, and operational details of major convenience facilities in Mapo such as sports facilities, libraries, study cafes, various welfare facilities, schools, and healthcare facilities all in one place.
The final appendix features maps of living infrastructure for each of the 16 neighborhoods, along with information on area, population, and the origin of place names, helping residents better understand and feel familiar with their own communities.
Additionally, the district has posted the contents of the "Mapo User Manual" on the Mapo-gu Office website. By clicking on the desired list, users are directly linked to the corresponding page, allowing anyone to easily use and view it anytime and anywhere via smartphones or tablet PCs.
Mapo-gu plans to distribute the "Mapo User Manual" not only to public institutions within the region but also to all households that have moved to Mapo-gu (※limited to those who have registered their move at the local community service center), helping residents quickly settle in and enjoy various public conveniences.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, explained the background by saying, "There are many good projects and convenient services promoted in Mapo-gu, and we created the 'Mapo User Manual' with the hope that no resident misses out on using them due to lack of information." He added, "Through the Mapo User Manual, we expect all 370,000 residents of Mapo-gu to be well informed about living information and fully enjoy public services, thereby improving their quality of life."
