Joo Kyu-il, Mayor of Jinju, Visits National Assembly to Address Local Issues

Meeting with National Assembly Member Jeong Uncheon to Propose the Establishment of the Korea Entrepreneurship National History Museum

Jo Gyu-il, mayor of Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, visited the National Assembly and met with National Assembly member Jeong Un-cheon to discuss the region's key project, the establishment of the "National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit."

Mayor Jo emphasized the necessity of establishing the "National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit" and requested that the feasibility study budget for the museum be included in next year’s government budget.

Mayor Jo stated, “To inherit and develop the K-entrepreneurial spirit, which is the driving force behind South Korea’s economic growth, for future generations, a government-level hub is necessary. Advanced countries such as the United States, Europe, Japan, and China deeply recognize the importance of entrepreneurial education and operate entrepreneurial spirit museums where elementary, middle, and high school students can learn about entrepreneurship and the history and development of their outstanding domestic companies.”

Mayor Jo Gyu-il is visiting the National Assembly to meet with Congressman Jeong Un-cheon and is requesting the inclusion of the feasibility study budget for the construction of the National History Museum.

He continued, “In order to overcome the crises and challenges our society faces, such as the transition to the digital era, climate change, artificial intelligence (AI), and economic recession, and to lead South Korea’s second economic miracle by passing on and developing the K-entrepreneurial spirit to future generations, the establishment of the ‘National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit’ is urgent and represents the current government’s historic mission.”

Assemblyman Jeong said, “The K-entrepreneurial spirit is a precious asset that not only companies but all citizens should know,” and added, “I will actively work toward the establishment of the National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit so that the K-entrepreneurial spirit can be passed on to future generations.”

Assemblyman Jeong is a member of the Industry, Trade, Small and Medium Enterprises, and Venture Businesses Committee. About 30 years ago, while working as a full-time farmer, he gained recognition as the "Chamdaerae Ajusshi" (Kiwi Uncle) through relentless challenges that opened new markets, and he was also called the Lee Kun-hee of venture agriculture. He also served as the first Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

On the 10th, Mayor Jo visited Dani Planning, a company specializing in compiling corporate histories, to discuss the internal content composition of the National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit.

At the meeting, Mayor Jo introduced the Jinju K-entrepreneurial spirit, the corporate values of global founders who achieved South Korea’s economic miracle such as Samsung, LG, GS, and Hyosung, and explained the necessity of establishing the National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit to inherit and develop this spirit for future generations.

Mayor Jo requested, “Dani Planning, which has expertise and capabilities as a ‘corporate history compilation specialist company’ that has systematically recorded the development process of South Korea’s industry through long-term corporate history compilation, should actively cooperate in composing the content of the National Museum of Korean Entrepreneurial Spirit.”
