Opening of the First Seoul-Style Kids Cafe in Ganseo-gu, Balsan 1-dong

The first Seoul-style kids cafe, a public indoor playground, has opened in Balsan 1-dong, Gangseo-gu.

The district held an opening ceremony at 10:30 a.m. on the 10th and officially began operations.

About 100 people attended the ceremony, including Jin Gyo-hoon, the district mayor, officials from the Gangseo-gu Childcare Support Center, children and parents from Magok 5 Haemalgeun Daycare Center, celebrating the birth of a dedicated play space for children.

Following the opening ceremony, a Nanta celebratory performance featuring songs and rhythmic movements by the children of Magok 5 Haemalgeun Daycare Center was held, receiving great applause from the attendees.

The indoor playground was created by remodeling a 161㎡ space on the 2nd floor of the Gangseo-gu Childcare Support Center (50 Sumyeong-ro 2-gil).

It is filled with jungle gyms, trampolines, and various role-playing and manipulative play equipment tailored to different developmental stages, allowing children to play freely. There is also a space where children and parents can read books and rest together.

The facility is available for preschool children aged 25 months and older, and a guardian or supervisor must accompany them. A play care service is also provided to look after children on behalf of guardians who are unable to accompany them.

The kids cafe usage fee is 2,000 KRW for children and 1,000 KRW for guardians. Operating hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. The day is divided into three sessions, each lasting two hours.

To maintain a pleasant environment as a space where children stay, the district disinfects the facilities for 30 minutes after each session.

For the safety of the children, entry is limited to a maximum of 12 people per session and operates by reservation only. However, groups such as daycare centers or social welfare facilities can enter with up to 24 people.

District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “We will continue to expand childcare facilities that can ease the burden on parents even a little,” adding, “We will make Gangseo-gu a city of education and care where both children and parents are happy.”

Meanwhile, the district is expanding childcare facilities to make Gangseo a happy place for the whole family. Next year, the Seoul-style kids cafes Gangseo-gu 2nd and 3rd branches are planned to open in Hwagok-dong.
