The Gwangju Community Chest of Korea announced on the 10th that it will provide 200 million KRW in heating expenses to approximately 2,700 vulnerable low-income individuals as part of its basic welfare project to help them have a warm winter.
The distributed funds will be used to alleviate the economic burden by providing heating costs and heating supplies to vulnerable groups struggling with heating due to rising oil prices and increased public utility fees, enabling energy-vulnerable individuals to enjoy a healthier life in a warmer environment.
Kim Won-cheol, chairman of the Buk-gu Community Security Council, expressed gratitude, saying, "The heating expenses you provided will reduce the burden of heating costs in preparation for the upcoming winter, and through the support of heating supplies, difficult neighbors will be able to have a warmer and happier winter."
Kim Jin-gon, secretary general of the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea, said, "We have delivered the warm kindness gathered from the citizens of Gwangju to help prepare for the approaching cold winter," adding, "We will continue to strive to help vulnerable groups have a healthy winter."
Previously, as part of the basic welfare project, the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea supported 200 million KRW in heating and cooling expenses to 3,000 vulnerable households and 400 million KRW to 451 small-scale social welfare facilities, totaling 600 million KRW. This winter, they are providing 200 million KRW to help ensure a warm winter and promote health throughout the summer and winter seasons.
