Daegu Urban Development Corporation Honored with Prime Minister's Award at the 'Active Administration Best Practice Competition'

'Contributing to Housing Stability for Low-Income Non-Homeowners'

Daegu Urban Development Corporation (President Jeong Myeong-seop) received the Prime Minister's Award at the '2023 Active Administration Best Practice Competition.'

Co-hosted by the Office for Government Policy Coordination, the Ministry of Personnel Management, and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, this competition aims to discover excellent cases that the public can feel, and to spread and share public service culture innovation across the government.

Daegu Urban Development Corporation presented a case of "actively interpreting the price calculation criteria for 10-year public rental housing conversion," achieving residential stability for low-income citizens, and won the "Prime Minister's Award."

This competition involved 17 finalists selected from about 570 active administration cases submitted by 289 institutions including central administrative agencies, local governments, public institutions, and local corporations and public enterprises. The final ranking was decided through on-site evaluations by private experts and online voting by the public.

In the case of 10-year public rental housing, the conversion price is appraised based on the start date of the conversion, which posed difficulties in reaching agreements between tenants and landlords during a downturn in the real estate market. To resolve this, Daegu Urban Development Corporation actively communicated not only with tenants but also with the Rental Housing Dispute Mediation Committee, the Korea Association of Property Appraisers, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, leading to a smooth agreement.

In particular, it was highly evaluated as the first case nationwide of reappraisal of the conversion price based on an agreement between tenants and landlords, positively influencing the conversion of 10-year public rental apartments in other regions, earning the Prime Minister's Award.
