Concerns have been raised about the urgent need for accommodation measures for examinees from island regions ahead of the College Scholastic Ability Test.
On the 8th, Jo Ok-hyun (Democratic Party of Korea, Mokpo 2), chairman of the Education Committee of the Jeonnam Provincial Council, during the administrative audit at Wando Office of Education, stated, “There is a need for safe accommodation for students from island regions when taking the CSAT,” and requested, “The Wando Office of Education should collectively select and contract lodging facilities to provide comfortable accommodations for island area examinees.”
Chairman Jo pointed out, “Following last year’s Education Committee proposal, transportation and accommodation expenses of 200,000 KRW per examinee are being supported,” and added, “Efforts by the Wando Office of Education are necessary to enhance the effectiveness.”
He also suggested, “There is an option to utilize the two dormitory buildings of Wando High School, the test site. Although there may be difficulties due to existing students’ belongings in the dormitories, since all dormitory students return home the day before the exam, examinees coming from the mainland could also use the facilities.”
He emphasized, “I hope the Wando Office of Education will pay attention so that examinees from island regions can take the exam comfortably.”
In addition, Chairman Jo Ok-hyun urged thorough preparation for the introduction of the high school credit system in 2025 and active utilization of remote video classes.
