KT announced on the 8th that it has obtained the Occupational Health and Safety Management System certification (ISO 45001) established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

At the certificate awarding ceremony held on the morning of the 8th at the Gwanghwamun KT building located in Jongno-gu, Seoul, key stakeholders including Lee Seon-ju, KT Chief Safety Officer (CSO, Executive Director), and Hwang Eun-ju, CEO of Korea Management Registrar (KMR), attended.

KT Obtains ISO Safety and Health Management System Certification

ISO 45001 is an international standard management system for occupational health and safety established in 2018. It is granted to companies that implement a systematic management system to prevent industrial accidents in the workplace and create and manage a safe working environment.

KT first obtained the ISO 45001 certification in 2021 within the KT Enterprise division to fulfill its social responsibilities in response to strengthened safety and health-related laws and regulations and to meet the strict safety management requirements of its clients. Subsequently, in the first half of this year, the entire Corporate Customer Headquarters of six regional headquarters also acquired the certification.

Furthermore, to thoroughly prevent serious accidents, KT underwent an objective verification of its internally established occupational health and safety management system through an external professional certification body. In addition, any deficiencies discovered during the certification process were immediately supplemented and improved, thereby systematically strengthening safety and health management activities. As a result, KT has now obtained ISO 45001 certification across all business areas.

KT plans to continue prioritizing occupational health and safety as an important management policy based on the Occupational Health and Safety Management System (ISO 45001), continuously strengthening its management system to provide a stable and reliable working environment and services. The global top-level international standard certification for occupational health and safety management systems is expected to greatly help KT accumulate energy for sound and sustainable growth as a leading ICT company.

Lee Seon-ju, KT Chief Safety Officer, stated, “Through obtaining the ISO 45001 certification, the highest international standard management system in the field of occupational health and safety, KT’s efforts to ensure worker safety and prevent industrial accidents have been recognized. Based on this, we will continue to create a safe and happy workplace and contribute to the company’s growth and competitiveness.”
