kt Takes Early Lead in Korean Series... Moon Sang-chul Hits Walk-off Double in 9th Inning

On the 7th, kt defeated the regular season first-place team LG Twins 3-2 in Game 1 of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League Korean Series (best-of-seven) held at Jamsil Stadium. In the top of the 9th inning, Moon Sang-chul’s crucial go-ahead double played a big role. kt is now aiming to return to the top of the Korean Series for the first time in two years.

Founded in 2015 as the youngest team in the KBO League, kt won their first Korean Series championship in 2021. Historically, the team that wins Game 1 of the Korean Series has gone on to win the championship 29 times out of 39, recording a winning probability of 74.4%.

Although kt suffered two consecutive losses to the NC Dinos in this year’s playoffs, they advanced to the Korean Series with three consecutive wins afterward. With the victory on this day, kt extended their winning streak to four games in this fall baseball season. kt has won five consecutive games in the Korean Series alone.
