Selection of Awardees in the Rural Development Sector
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 7th that Song Pil-jae, director of the Hwaseong Agricultural Technology Center, received the Grand Prize in the Rural Development category at the '2023 Korea Agriculture Awards' held that day.
Hosted by the Korea Rural Leaders Central Association, the 'Korea Agriculture Awards' are given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the development and income increase of agriculture and rural areas, as well as the protection of farmers' rights, welfare, and quality of life through institutional improvements, agricultural and rural policy development and research, education, production, technology dissemination, and new technology development in various fields.

According to the city, Director Song is recognized for opening a new era of Hwaseong agriculture by relocating the Hwaseong Agricultural Technology Center building to Dokjeong-ri, Jangan-myeon, and equipping it with scientific farming facilities and demonstration research facilities to strengthen the rural guidance environment and organization. In addition, he has promoted various policies to increase farm income, and was selected as the award recipient in high regard for his contributions to the development of Hwaseong agriculture through the advancement of the sixth industry, including fostering agricultural organizations and rural experience farms, the city added.
Director Song said, "I will continue to make efforts to spread specialized agricultural technology, increase farmers' income, and establish a foundation for future agriculture to create Hwaseong as a self-sufficient city of one million citizens where both citizens and farmers coexist."
