The display industry has achieved a 65% localization rate of OLED materials and components, higher than other industries, thanks to efforts by companies and the government. However, the overseas supply dependency for more than five key material items reaches 100%, with a significant reliance on Japan for light-emitting materials and FMM.

The association expects to strengthen technological cooperation between Korean and Japanese companies and contribute to future export expansion by supporting domestic small and medium-sized enterprises that find it difficult to independently establish networks with overseas companies.

Lee Dong-wook, Vice Chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association, stated, "Enhancing the technology of materials, components, and equipment must come first to establish a virtuous supply chain in the display industry. Moving forward, we will strive to strengthen the competitiveness of our companies by continuously operating international joint research meetings and technology exchange meetings, promoting strategic technological cooperation and joint R&D with companies and research institutes in Japan, the U.S., and Europe that possess fundamental technologies."
