Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, announced that the third group of foreign seasonal workers under the MOU, who entered the country on August 8 and 9, completed 90 days of agricultural work and departed through Incheon Airport and Gimhae Airport on November 6 and 7, respectively.
The departing third group of MOU seasonal workers consisted of 245 workers who entered with C-4-1 visas timed to coincide with the harvest season of Yeongyang-gun’s main crop, chili peppers. They engaged in agricultural work for 90 days, greatly helping to alleviate labor shortages during the harvest season.
County Governor Oh Do-chang said, “The introduction of foreign seasonal workers has been a great help in solving labor shortages and wage issues during the busy farming season,” adding, “We hope that the workers who came this year return safely and that we can see them again next year.”
A Yeongyang-gun official stated, “This year’s seasonal worker program was smoothly implemented, resulting in high satisfaction among both farmers and workers,” and added, “We will continue to expand the foreign seasonal worker program in the future by diversifying the countries and regions from which workers are introduced.”
