Lee Sang-min Meets Lee Jun-seok... Jung Cheong-rae Says, "Turning the Bow 1 Degree at a Time, It Goes Backwards"

Lee Sang-min, a leading non-Myeong (非明) faction figure within the Democratic Party of Korea, recently met with Lee Jun-seok, the former leader of the People Power Party who is reportedly planning a new party, and even left open the possibility of joining his new party. In response, Jeong Cheong-rae, a pro-Myeong (親明) Supreme Council member, expressed concerns, saying it "could go in the opposite direction."

On the 7th, Jeong referenced the headline of a related article on his social media, warning, "If you keep turning the bow of a ship by one degree at a time, eventually you will end up going in the opposite direction."

On the same day, Jeong also downplayed the possibility of the non-Myeong faction joining Lee Jun-seok’s new party during a KBS radio interview, saying, "Every general election, there is talk of a third zone, a big tent, or a third party," and added, "Then there is always competition to attract dissatisfied lawmakers from both sides, so this is nothing new, just normal."

Earlier that day, Lee Sang-min was asked on CBS radio about the possibility of joining Lee Jun-seok’s new party. He replied, "The possibility is always open as long as it is not something bad," leaving the door open for joining. He also said, "I think I need to organize my thoughts about my position first before I can say more," indicating he would make a decision about his political stance within a month. This was interpreted as meaning he would announce whether he would join Lee Jun-seok’s new party within a month.
