"Only Choo Mi-ae Is a Current Party Member... Cho Kuk and Song Young-gil Are Not Party Members"
Jeong Cheong-rae, a Supreme Council member of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 7th regarding rumors of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk running in next year's general election, "Former Minister Cho is not a party member. How can someone who is not a party member run for the Democratic Party?"
Jeong, the Supreme Council member, appeared on KBS Radio's 'Choegang Sisa' that day and pointed out, "Only former Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae is currently a party member, but former Minister Cho and former Democratic Party leader Song Young-gil are not party members."

Earlier, former Minister Cho appeared on the YouTube channel 'Kim Eo-jun's Humility is Difficult News Factory' on the 6th and indicated that he might run in next year's general election. When asked, "Are you going to run in the general election?" he said, "I am currently on trial, and I will make every effort to explain and clarify legally as much as possible," adding, "If this is not accepted, I am thinking about finding a way to restore my honor through non-legal means."
In political circles, there was an analysis that the 'non-legal means of restoring honor' mentioned by former Minister Cho might be a response considering running in the general election. Currently, former Minister Cho was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial for charges related to his children's admission bribery and covering up Blue House inspections, and the appeal trial is ongoing.
When asked about the possibility of former Minister Cho founding a new party instead of running for the Democratic Party, Representative Jeong said, "I don't know well either. It might only be in former Minister Cho's mind," and added, "I don't think he has made a precise decision yet. We need to watch a little longer."
