'Chat + Shopping' Combined Feature... Supporting Easier Shopping
Enhancing Service Speed and Simplifying Screens
SK Stoa announced on the 7th that it will launch a 'Chatping' service, allowing customers to shop via remote control as if chatting while watching TV shopping broadcasts.
Chatping, introduced by SK Stoa as the first service of its kind in the TV shopping industry, is a combination of chat and shopping designed to make data home shopping (T-commerce) more convenient to use.
Previously, to shop in the data home shopping section using a remote control, users had to move the focus with the directional keys and the 'OK' button to select the desired product. The TV-type chatbot Chatping was created to enhance the speed of service use and to improve the inconvenience of navigating through multiple screens.
Consumers purchasing products through SK Stoa's Chatping service will face a screen where they can converse with the chatbot. This screen generates options such as ordering broadcast products, detailed product information, related product reviews, purchase benefits and event information, search functions, and personalized product recommendations. Consumers can press the number buttons on the remote control to select the desired service and quickly move to the next screen to continue shopping. Customers can experience easier TV shopping, and from SK Stoa’s customer center perspective, it helps share the workload of order processing and customer service with human agents.
The screen is designed with minimal images and primarily concise text compared to the existing data home shopping screens. As a result, consumers can explore product information and complete purchases all at once without moving through multiple screens. For consumers who may have difficulty using the service, a function to connect directly to the customer center has also been placed.
Currently, SK Stoa provides the Chatping service only on the 'Home Screen,' the very first screen of TV shopping, but plans to improve it to be available across all TV shopping store screens through continuous usability evaluations and customer feedback. In the long term, voice recognition features, mobile linkage functions, and AI solutions capable of smoothly responding to various customer inquiries will also be introduced.
SK Stoa has completed patent applications, including for the 'TV-type chatbot service provision method,' to strengthen the expertise of this function and continue its development in the future.
Shin Yang-gyun, head of SK Stoa’s DT Group, said, "We developed and introduced the Chatping service to further enhance the functions of data home shopping and improve customer convenience. Going forward, we will continue to provide customer-centric T-commerce services, such as TV-type chatbots combined with AI solutions using data and information and communication technology (ICT), and maintain technological leadership in the market."
