The PonyJeong Foundation and Vietnam National University, Hanoi held the 17th Scholarship Certificate Award Ceremony and the 1st PonyJeong Vietnam Scholars Reunion Day at the Hanoi Marriott Hotel on the 6th. The reunion day, which invited 35 new scholars from Vietnam National University, Hanoi and 45 former scholars, was organized as a platform for interaction among past PonyJeong Vietnam scholars. Along with PonyJeong Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-gyu, who hosted the reunion day, about 10 vice presidents and faculty members of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Ambassador Choi Young-sam of the Republic of Korea to Vietnam, Coach Park Hang-seo, and Tran Quoc Tuan, President of the Vietnam Football Federation, also attended to brighten the event.
Since selecting PonyJeong scholars at Vietnam National University, Hanoi starting in 2008, these scholars have grown into talents leading national development in various fields in Vietnam. Chairman Chung said, “Through this Reunion Day event, I hope the network of past scholars expands and their sense of belonging strengthens,” adding, “I hope PonyJeong Vietnam scholars become a bridge connecting Korea and Vietnam and grow into leaders of the future, continuing the innovation and challenging spirit of Honorary Chairman Chung Se-young of PonyJeong.”
The PonyJeong Foundation plans to award scholarship certificates to 35 new scholars at Ho Chi Minh City University on the 7th. The foundation provides a scholarship of $600 to help more PonyJeong Vietnam scholars focus on their studies, and since 2023, it has increased the number of scholars by 10, selecting 70 scholars annually.
Since the PonyJeong Foundation started its scholarship program in Vietnam in 2007, a total of 990 Vietnamese scholars have benefited. Additionally, the foundation supports the “PonyJeong Invitation Scholarship Program,” which selects two outstanding PonyJeong Vietnam scholars annually to support master’s degree programs at Korea University’s Graduate School and International Graduate School, and the “PonyJeong Exchange Scholarship Program,” which offers Korean language major PonyJeong Vietnam scholars opportunities to study in Korea, providing scholars with more diverse opportunities.
Meanwhile, the PonyJeong Foundation is a scholarship foundation established in 2005 by Chung Mong-gyu, Chairman of HDC Group, who inherited the philosophy of valuing talent from his late father, Honorary Chairman Chung Se-young of Hyundai Development Company. The PonyJeong Foundation plans to continue providing broad opportunities to various talents through diverse domestic and international scholarship programs.
