Gwangju Bukbu Fire Station announced on the 6th that it will publicly recruit new volunteer firefighters who are interested in fire safety and actively participate in volunteer activities for the safety of citizens until the 17th of this month.
The volunteer firefighters perform various activities for the safety of citizens, including assisting at disaster sites such as fires, rescues, and first aid, as well as fire prevention campaigns, patrols, and volunteer services for elderly care.
Currently, the Bukbu Fire Station Volunteer Firefighters consist of 2 headquarters units, 7 regional units, and 4 specialized units, with 310 volunteer firefighters active. New volunteer firefighters must be citizens of Gwangju, residing or staying in Buk-gu, under 65 years old, physically healthy, cooperative, and have a strong spirit of volunteerism for the development of the local community.
Additionally, priority qualifications are given to those who are emergency medical workers, hold fire-related or information and communication certifications, or have fire-related education or experience.
Applications can be submitted in person or by mail to the Disaster 119 Response Division of Bukbu Fire Station, and for other related matters, inquiries can be made to the 119 Disaster Response Division of Bukbu Fire Station.
A fire official stated, "We hope for the active participation of citizens interested in the safety of the local community."
