KOTRA and Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Establish New Master's Program to Train International Trade Experts

Recruitment of New Students for the 2024 Academic Year First Semester from 7th to 16th

De-globalization and regionalization are intensifying due to the Russia-Ukraine situation and the Middle East crisis. Amid this, a program to train trade experts for major global regions is being launched in earnest.

KOTRA announced on the 6th that it has established the 'Korea International Regional Strategy Program (Master's Course)' at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS) Graduate School of International and Area Studies and will recruit new students for the first semester of 2024 from the 7th to the 16th.

In August, KOTRA signed a business agreement to train international trade professionals. By combining KOTRA's overseas field knowledge and experience with HUFS's expertise in international area studies, the master's program has been introduced. The goal is to cultivate regional international trade experts equipped with both theory and practical skills.

Lee Jung-hoon, Head of KOTRA's Digital Trade and Investment Division, said, "The collaboration between KOTRA and HUFS is expected to create a successful industry-academia-government special master's program that delivers the best synergy."

Professor Kang Jun-young of HUFS Graduate School of International and Area Studies explained, "In an era where de-globalization and regionalization trends require region-specific international trade experts, inquiries about admission are coming not only from bachelor's degree holders but also from government officials and related institutions."

Those admitted to the master's program will receive benefits such as scholarships and research assistant opportunities. Additionally, KOTRA supports overseas field research, and if students complete designated courses during their studies, they can link to the KOTRA-led Global Business Consultant (GBC) certification.
