Justice Party to Promote 'Electoral Alliance Party' with Green, Progressive, and Labor Parties... Lee Jeong-mi to Resign Tomorrow

Alliance Efforts with Green Party, Jinbo Party, and Labor Party
Run Elections Together and Return to Original Parties Afterwards
Discussion on Legislative Activities Continues Despite Dispersion

The Justice Party announced on the 5th that it will promote an 'electoral alliance party' with the Green Party and others in preparation for next year's general election.

On the same day, the Justice Party held a national committee meeting at the National Assembly and approved the innovative reestablishment agenda with the above content. They plan to form an 'alliance party' with third political forces such as labor groups including the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions, the Green Party, the Progressive Party, the Labor Party, and regional parties to contest the general election together. The plan is for external figures to join the Justice Party to run in the election and then return to their original parties afterward.

To this end, a 'Special Committee for Promoting the New Electoral Alliance Party' will be formed, and Representative Lee Jeong-mi has decided to resign on the 6th to fully delegate authority to the special committee.

Senior Spokesperson Kim Hee-seo said at a National Assembly press conference, "We have had in-depth discussions with the Green Party regarding the electoral alliance party and have also begun related talks with the Progressive Party and the Labor Party."

The Justice Party plans to form the special committee centered on Floor Leader Bae Jin-kyo, push for the national committee meeting by the end of this month, and finalize the plan to promote the electoral alliance party through the party congress and member vote in December.

However, opposition from lawmakers Jang Hye-young and Ryu Ho-jeong remains a challenge. Senior Spokesperson Kim said, "I understand there have been disagreements so far, and today's national committee meeting was not unanimously approved," adding, "It was approved by majority vote, but there was opposition."

On the same day, the Justice Party adopted the 10 major visions for an ecological, equal, and care-oriented social state, and also approved initiatives such as promoting progressive political reorganization and securing regional bases to respond to the climate crisis.
