Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, operated the 'Future Technology School.'
The district announced on the 5th that on the 4th, it provided 100 high school students with customized career experience opportunities at the National Gwangju Science Museum.
The experience was conducted by exploring and practicing scientific careers in five fields: astronomy and space, forensic science, life science, medical and life sciences, and artificial intelligence.
The students attended special lectures by experts in the aviation and space fields, including Dr. Kim Sangheon from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute's Launch Vehicle Research Center, and had learning sessions where they worked and experienced actual work environments.
In the astronomy and space field, students made a diorama of a space base and a solar-powered rover, while students participating in forensic science experienced scientific investigations as part of the 'CSI Forensic Investigation Team.'
Life science activities included education on the principles of electrophoresis and DNA analysis, bacterial culture experience, and understanding the principles of drug development. Medical and life sciences involved surgical suturing practice, learning about skin tissue structure and function, vaccination principles, and injection administration experience.
In the artificial intelligence field, students designed and implemented a color recognition AI as AI engineers.
One student said, “Practicing with scientists made future technology feel closer, and I thought I want to have a related career in the future,” adding, “I hope opportunities like this will happen more often.”
