Harvested Apples Available for Direct Purchase

The Cheongaram Volunteer Group of Daegu Urban Development Corporation visited Gil-an-myeon, Andong City, with which they established a win-win cooperation sisterhood on the 3rd, to carry out volunteer work helping with farm labor and participated in a campaign to purchase agricultural products from the Andong area.

The volunteer activity involved the Cheongaram Volunteer Group, consisting of Daegu Urban Development Corporation President Jeong Myeong-seop and employees, as well as staff from the Gil-an-myeon office. They harvested apples in an orchard experiencing a labor shortage during the harvest season. Daegu Urban Development Corporation also directly purchased the harvested apples and rice, a specialty product of Gil-an-myeon.

To commemorate the Daegu-Andong friendship exchange agreement, Daegu Urban Development Corporation established a win-win cooperation sisterhood with Gil-an-myeon, Andong City, last September and resolved to promote the use of local agricultural products and conduct volunteer activities to help with farm labor to revitalize the rural economy.

Daegu Urban Development Corporation plans to purchase specialty products from Andong, its sisterhood region, to revitalize farms in the Gyeongbuk area affected by flood damage this summer and deliver them to vulnerable groups. To this end, through the Daegu Community Chest of Korea, 100 vulnerable people in the region will be selected to receive 1,000 kg of rice and 300 kg of apples from Andong and Gunwi areas.

Jeong Myeong-seop, President of Daegu Urban Development Corporation, expressed his aspiration, saying, “I am pleased that the corporation’s support for purchasing local agricultural products has become an opportunity for Daegu and Gyeongbuk to develop together,” and added, “We will continue to strive as a leading public enterprise in ESG management for regional win-win development.”
