Janghang Line Trains, Express Buses, and Accommodations Sold Out
Crowds Flock to Various Attractions and Activities
Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, and Hongseong County in Chungnam joined hands to open the 2023 Global Barbecue Festival, which attracted over 100,000 people on its first day.
According to Hongseong County on the 4th, 100,030 people visited the festival grounds on the first day of the festival. More than 70% of the visitors were tourists from outside the area. A county official stated that the Janghang Line trains and express buses passing through Hongseong were sold out, and accommodations were fully booked.
At the festival site, ten windmill-shaped ovens, five whole pig barbecue ovens, and a large oven capable of grilling 500 chickens simultaneously were continuously in operation. The barbecue sold out as soon as it was served.
The sales volume at the Hongseong Hanwoo & Handong Food Zone, which offered Hanwoo beef and Korean pork at 10-50% discounts, was completely sold out. The booths of YouTubers Jeongyukwang, Chwiyonam, and Muncheu, who showcased spectacular performances using various barbecue facilities, were bustling throughout the festival.

This festival also featured various experiential programs such as the Joseon Barbecue ‘Nanrohoe’ experience, a game event zone, making Hongseong garlic sausages, Hongju Eupseong militia experience, and a forest photo zone, adding more attractions and entertainment.
