The Central Accident Response Headquarters for Lumpy Skin Disease (CARH) announced that the number of confirmed cases of lumpy skin disease in cattle in South Korea has increased to 77 as of the 4th.
From the 20th of last month to the 2nd of this month, 75 cases were confirmed, and 2 additional cases were reported the previous day in Seosan, Chungnam, and Ganghwa, Incheon, with one case each.
CARH is conducting vaccinations at cattle farms nationwide, having completed vaccinations for 3,108,000 out of a total of 4,076,000 cattle (76.3%).
Separately, CARH stated that tests are being conducted on 2 suspected reports.
Lumpy skin disease is a viral disease transmitted by blood-sucking insects such as mosquitoes and biting flies. Infected cattle exhibit symptoms such as high fever and skin nodules (lumps), with a mortality rate below 10%.
