Received Certificate Plaque Award from the Ministry of Education
Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Soon-ho) announced that it received a lifelong learning city certificate and plaque at the 8th Korea Lifelong Learning Expo.
The expo was held for three days from November 2 to 4 at the aT Center in Yangjae-dong, Seoul, under the theme "Innovation of a Learning Nation, Great Transformation of Lifelong Learning," hosted by the Ministry of Education and organized by the National Institute for Lifelong Education.
The expo events consisted of the Lifelong Learning Awards ceremony, lifelong learning city plaque awarding ceremony, exhibition hall conferences, and academic seminars.
Each province operated a themed pavilion, and Gurye-gun ran a pressed flower piggy bank making experience pavilion, which received enthusiastic responses from many visitors.
Meanwhile, Gurye-gun was designated as a lifelong learning city in 2023 and is conducting 12 projects with residents, including visiting adult literacy classes, lifelong learning village schools, learning networks, and lifelong learning clubs, with a total project budget of 200 million KRW, including 90 million KRW in national subsidies.
Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "We will create a universal lifelong learning city enjoyed by all residents and actively respond to the risk of local extinction by promoting various jobs and vocational education through learning."
