Real Estate R114 conducted the '2023 Best Apartment Brand' survey in collaboration with Korea Research from the 4th to the 17th of last month, targeting 4,029 adult men and women nationwide. According to the survey results, Hyundai Engineering & Construction's 'Hillstate' took the top overall position.

Samsung C&T's 'Raemian', GS Engineering & Construction's 'Xi', Lotte Construction's 'Lotte Castle', and Daewoo Engineering & Construction's 'Prugio' also maintained their strong brand influence by staying within the top 5 for four consecutive years.

DL E&C's 'e-Pyeonhansesang (7th→6th)' and Hanwha Construction's 'Forena (10th→8th)' improved their rankings by 1 to 2 places compared to last year, while Woomi Construction's 'Lyn' re-entered the top 10 after two years, sharing the 10th place with Doosan Engineering & Construction's 'We’ve'.

In the brand awareness question, where respondents selected all apartment brands they knew, GS Engineering & Construction's 'Xi' ranked first with the highest response rate of 90.7%. It was followed by Daewoo Engineering & Construction's 'Prugio (89.5%)', Samsung C&T's 'Raemian (89.0%)', Lotte Construction's 'Lotte Castle (88.1%)', and Hyundai Engineering & Construction's 'Hillstate (87.6%)'.

The highest percentage of respondents (23.5%) named Hyundai Engineering & Construction's 'Hillstate' as their most preferred apartment brand. This was followed by Samsung C&T's 'Raemian (14.0%)', Daewoo Engineering & Construction's 'Prugio (10.6%)', GS Engineering & Construction's 'Xi (8.1%)', and Lotte Construction's 'Lotte Castle (7.9%)'. Among the top five brands, 'Xi' saw declines in both ranking and response rate compared to last year. Given the significant impact of construction accidents in April this year, it is understood that the damaged image influenced the decline in brand preference.

The most common reason for preferring a brand was 'excellent quality and functionality (49.3%)'. This was followed by ▲familiarity and friendliness (31.7%) ▲financial structure and construction safety (24.8%) ▲high investment value (20.6%). Across brands, the primary reason for preference was generally 'excellent quality and functionality'. Real Estate R114 analyzed that issues such as poor apartment construction and rebar omission incidents have made the quality, functionality, and safety of apartments significantly affect brand preference.

In a question asking owners (including household members) of redevelopment sites before selecting a construction company which construction companies and brands they hope to work with (up to 3 choices), Samsung C&T's 'Raemian (66.1%)' was selected as number one. It was followed by Hyundai Engineering & Construction's 'Hillstate (62.0%)', Daewoo Engineering & Construction's 'Prugio (33.1%)', GS Engineering & Construction's 'Xi (32.0%)', and Lotte Construction's 'Lotte Castle (28.9%)'.
