The Anti-Corruption Investigation Division 2 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Choi Jae-hoon) conducted a search and seizure of the residences of Democratic Party lawmakers Lim Jong-seong and Heo Jong-sik on the same day on charges of violating the Political Parties Act.

The prosecution believes that independent lawmaker Yoon Kwan-seok distributed 20 money envelopes, each containing 3 million won, to Democratic Party lawmakers over two days from April 28 to 29, 2021, ahead of the party convention to support former leader Song Young-gil's election, and that lawmakers Lim and Heo were among those who received them. So far, the prosecution has focused on investigating and indicting the givers of the money envelopes. This is the first time a forced investigation has been conducted on lawmakers suspected of receiving the envelopes.
