The overseas outstanding vocational high school student admission project is a program started to provide foreign students with quality vocational education and employment opportunities, and to offer companies the chance to recruit talent from diverse nationalities and backgrounds, thereby enhancing global competitiveness and addressing regional depopulation.
The purpose of this visit was to benchmark the excellent vocational education career paths and infrastructure of Gyeongbuk vocational high schools and to expand opportunities for outstanding Thai talents to study and receive vocational education in Korea.
Parapat Ratanarun, Secretary-General (Vice Minister level) of the Vocational Education Committee under the Thai Ministry of Education, said, “Interest in K-Culture is leading to studying in Korea, and I was deeply impressed by Gyeongbuk’s vocational education, which combines the dynamism and flexibility of domestic students becoming globalized and foreign students becoming Koreanized. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity provided to Thai students to grow into professional vocational experts and ask for continuous expansion of this project.”
A representative from the Gyeongbuk Office of Education stated that the visit by the Thai local educational institutions provided a meaningful opportunity to share the achievements of Gyeongbuk vocational education and to discuss development plans that can create synergistic effects for both countries through the admission of outstanding international students.
Superintendent Lim Jong-sik of Gyeongbuk Office of Education said, “The goal of attracting outstanding international students is not quantitative expansion but to strengthen support and management throughout the entire process from admission to post-graduation career paths, thereby achieving the dual goals of enhancing the global competitiveness of vocational high schools and revitalizing the regional economy. We will establish global curricula and infrastructure so that Gyeongbuk vocational education, which guarantees a better tomorrow, can become the standard for vocational education worldwide.”
