'General Election Candidacy Declaration' Park Ji-hyun, Facing Bae Hyun-jin in Songpa?

Seoul Songpa is the Constituency of Yeo Baehyun-jin
KBS Interview "I Will Do Politics That Protects the Vulnerable"

Former Emergency Committee Chair of the Democratic Party of Korea, Park Ji-hyun, announced on the 2nd her intention to run for the Seoul Songpa-eul district in next year's general election. Songpa-eul is currently the constituency of Bae Hyun-jin, a member of the People Power Party, and the Democratic Party's Songpa-eul district committee chairman is lawyer Song Ki-ho.

On the same day, Park told KBS, "Just as I have worked hard to protect numerous victims and women from digital sex crimes such as the Nth Room case, I want to continue to engage in politics that protects the vulnerable, including women."

Park, who was active in the investigative group 'Bulkkot' exposing digital sex crimes like the Nth Room case, entered politics by joining the Democratic Party camp during the last presidential election. She later served as co-chair of the Democratic Party's Emergency Committee.

Park described herself as "someone who suddenly became a politician," adding, "I have had very deep practical experience, but I lacked theoretical knowledge and study." She also mentioned that she took classes at a political school and a public policy graduate school, saying, "I met many people, thought a lot, and spent time protecting my body and mind."

Park emphasized that the Democratic Party should more boldly show that it is shedding vested interests. She said, "Despite the Yoon Seok-yeol administration performing very poorly, it has been a long time since many citizens in the gray area of the moderate middle have given their support to the Democratic Party," adding, "Rather than doing more, wouldn't it be more important to show that the Democratic Party is keeping the many promises it has made so far?"
