"Can the General Election Planning Team Appointments Be Called Integration?"

The Democratic Party of Korea has launched an election planning team to oversee preparations for next year's general election, but criticism has arisen calling it a 'Pro-Myeong Planning Team.'

On the 1st, Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Won-wook raised his voice on his Facebook, saying, "The composition of the election planning team is more fittingly called the Pro-Myeong Planning Team rather than an election planning team."

Earlier, the Democratic Party formed the 22nd Election Planning Team on the same day and approved the composition of 13 members led by Secretary-General Jo Jeong-sik. Among the incumbent lawmakers, included were Han Byung-do, the head of the Strategic Planning Committee participating as a secretary, Kim Byung-gi, the chief deputy secretary-general, Lee Jae-jung, the chairperson of the National Women's Committee, Jeon Yong-gi, the chairperson of the National Youth Committee, and proportional representative lawmaker Shin Hyun-young.

Among the non-incumbent members were Choi Taek-yong, the regional chairman of Busan Gijang-gun, Park Young-hoon, vice-chairman of the Youth Future Council, Jang Hyun-joo, a planning committee member of the Seoul Bar Association, and Jang Yoon-mi, a lawyer at Meta Law Firm.

In response, lawmaker Lee pointed out, "Secretary-General Jo Jeong-sik, head of the election planning team, is someone who violated Article 80 of the party constitution. He should take responsibility for the incident involving the arrest motion against former leader Lee Jae-myung according to his own will and should resign."

He also said, "The names of lawyers Jang Yoon-mi and Jang Hyun-joo, who appeared on broadcasts by hardline YouTubers such as Kim Eo-jun and Kim Yong-min, are familiar," adding, "Chairman Choi Taek-yong posted an awkward argument in September opposing the identification of the faction that approved the arrest motion against leader Lee Jae-myung but saying they should be disciplined, making it seem as if the dismissal of the arrest motion was a victory for the Democratic Party."

Furthermore, lawmaker Lee questioned, "Do you think this can be called unification after seeing today's election planning team appointments?" and asked, "Does the phrase 'don't argue' contain a message that it is not unification but 'I will do as I please'? Should we keep silent even as the Pro-Myeong faction's party privatization is completed?"
