Gwangju Seobu Fire Station Operates November Fire Prevention Awareness Month

November marks the transition from autumn to winter, a time when indoor activities increase along with the use of heating devices and handling of fire, making special attention to fire safety necessary.

According to the fire department, an average of 36.6 fires (22.3%) occur annually during the winter season over the past five years, with negligence (53%) being the leading cause of winter fires.

In response, the Seobu Fire Station plans to create a fire prevention atmosphere by posting fire prevention banners and posters at key public offices such as fire stations and schools, and will also promote policies such as spreading the culture of giving way to fire trucks to secure the golden time.

Additionally, to address disparities in safety education and foster equal safety awareness, customized life safety education will be expanded for people with disabilities, the elderly, and multicultural families.

A fire department official stated, "Citizen interest and participation in fire prevention practices that can be implemented in daily life, such as installing fire alarms and fire extinguishers in homes and following safety rules for electric heating devices, are necessary," adding, "We will make every effort to prevent fires by raising the public’s safety awareness through experience-centered fire prevention cultural events and fire safety education."
