Launch of 24 New Products Developed by Mom and Dad Employees
Harim is venturing into the children's food market. On the 1st, Harim announced the launch of its children's food brand 'Foodie Buddy' and the release of 24 new products directly researched and developed by Chairman Kim Hong-guk and parent employees.
Harim is introducing a children's food brand that reflects the needs of smart parents and child consumers who seek high-quality ingredients similar to infant food but with flavors comparable to adult meals. Breaking the stereotype that children's and infant foods focus only on nutrition and lack taste, the brand aims to satisfy both children's palates and nutritional needs, pioneering the children's food market. The company explained that this initiative strongly reflects Chairman Kim Hong-guk's determination to properly create children's food, following the launch of the additive-free 'Themisik Artisan Ramen' in 2021 for his youngest daughter who suffered from atopy.
All Foodie Buddy products are made with the freshest natural ingredients in accordance with Harim's food philosophy. The brand aims to be a trustworthy children's food brand "conceived by gourmet moms and doting dads, nutritionally designed by experts, and crafted by chefs." Brand managers, chefs, researchers, and nutrition experts directly planned and developed special recipes applied to the products.
Foodie Buddy products enhance umami by richly incorporating meat, beef bone broth, and aromatic vegetables, bringing out flavors and scents from natural ingredients. Without adding artificial seasonings and reducing sodium by more than 20% compared to adult meals, the products deliver a distinctly superior taste that elevates children's palate value. In particular, Foodie Buddy ramen contains much lower sodium levels (Red Ramen 1080mg / White Ramen 1050mg) than conventional ramen (1640mg), yet maximizes flavor to a level comparable to adult tastes by using quality ingredients and proper cooking methods. Soups also maintain sodium levels at 7.8?16.5% of the recommended adult intake while maximizing taste with abundant natural ingredients.
Additionally, Foodie Buddy products adhere to Harim's food philosophy principle of using the freshest natural ingredients without synthetic additives. They generously include high-quality raw materials such as 100% domestically grown organic rice, fresh domestic vegetables, fresh Korean beef, domestic fresh livestock and pork, and regional specialties like Goheung seaweed. To ensure parents' peace of mind, nutritional design tailored to children's growth and development was strengthened through professional nutritionists.
Research on the texture and size of ingredients was also reflected to ensure children can chew and digest the food comfortably. For instant rice, moisture content is 5% higher than market products, resulting in a soft texture that is easy to swallow without much chewing and gentle on digestion. Ramen features thin noodles that fit perfectly in one bite, made from non-fried dried noodles that preserve the texture of fresh noodles. Mini pork cutlets and chicken cutlets are matured with pineapple puree for tender meat and fried with fresh breadcrumbs made from freshly ground bread, providing a soft texture from the first bite.
Breaking the prejudice that children dislike eating rice, the product packaging features vibrant pink colors and animal character designs to create a fun mealtime experience. Toy-like elements and 12 Foodie Buddy animal character stickers are included. Engaging features such as number chicken nuggets for number play and popcorn chicken with magic powder to shake and enjoy add to the excitement.
Foodie Buddy products are available in a diverse lineup including three types of instant rice, four types of ramen, five types of soups in the shelf-stable line, and five types of fried rice, five types of fried dishes, and two types of hot dogs in the frozen line. Foodie Buddy products will be sold through various channels including online, discount stores, convenience stores, and department stores.
A Harim representative stated, "Chairman Kim Hong-guk and parent employees have devoted long hours of research and spared no effort to embody sincerity and 'real taste.' Starting with this pioneering of the children's food market, we will lead innovation in children's food products while successfully establishing ourselves in the market through continuous research and development."
