County Governor Gong Young-min Urges Thorough Preparation for Expo with Safety as Top Priority

Gohung-gun, Jeonnam Province (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that preparations for the ‘1st Gohung Drone·UAM Expo,’ which will serve as a signal fire for fostering the local aviation industry, are progressing smoothly.

The 1st Gohung Drone·UAM Expo, under the theme ‘Gohung, Making the Future a Reality with Drone·UAM,’ will be held from November 3 to 5 (3 days) at the Gohung Aviation Center and Drone Center area.

Accordingly, on the 31st, ahead of the expo opening, about 40 people including Governor Gong Young-min and heads of departments and divisions attended an on-site inspection prioritizing the safety and convenience of visitors.

Governor Gong Young-min walked through the Drone Zone, UAM Zone, parking lots, and other rest areas and convenience facilities, meticulously inspecting every corner of the site from the perspective of visitors.

During the on-site inspection of the Drone Zone, detailed checks were made from the entrance of the Gohung Drone Center to the internal exhibition and experience booths, local food pavilion, rest areas, as well as auxiliary event venues, and immediate measures were instructed for any necessary improvements.

Next, in the UAM Zone, the opening ceremony route was inspected, and the exhibition and experience hall was toured.

In particular, the UAM Zone is expected to attract concentrated visits from visitors as it features a purely domestically developed actual UAM aircraft never before publicly displayed anywhere, flight demonstrations unique to Gohung-gun equipped with Korea’s first vertiport, and exhibition and experience halls of companies participating in the K-UAM Grand Challenge consortium, offering abundant attractions and entertainment. Therefore, meticulous safety inspections are required in this area.

After the on-site inspection, Governor Gong Young-min encouraged the event preparation staff and requested that they do their utmost until the end to ensure the expo is successful and concludes with great attendance.

Governor Gong Young-min stated, “This expo will serve as an opportunity to present the development and future vision of the domestic drone·UAM industry, promote Gohung-gun’s aviation infrastructure facilities both domestically and internationally in line with the expansion of the drone·UAM market, and establish a foundation for building an ecosystem to nurture talent who will lead future strategic industries.”

He added, “Since the expo period overlaps with the 3rd Gohung Yuja Festival and a large number of visitors are expected, safety will be prioritized in preparations, and thorough efforts will be made to prepare and promote other auxiliary events such as the national drone soccer tournament.”

Meanwhile, during the expo period, the county plans to operate shuttle buses from three locations?Yeosu Airport, Suncheon Station, and Gohung Terminal?to the event venue for the convenience of visitors.
