A radiologic technologist who wore a doctor's gown and roamed around a hospital stealing items worth approximately 16 million won, including cash and watches, was sentenced to prison.
According to the legal community on the 1st, Judge Kim Seon-sook of the Criminal Division 8 at the Seoul Eastern District Court sentenced Kwon Mo (27), who was indicted on charges of theft and fraud, to one year in prison with a two-year probation period and ordered 120 hours of community service on the 25th of last month.
Kwon stole items worth 15,948,000 won over ten occasions from April 2 to June 8 of this year at a large hospital in Seoul. While working as a radiologic technologist at the hospital, he impersonated a doctor and used others' access security cards to enter changing rooms, on-duty rooms, and inpatient wards, committing crimes targeting hospital staff and patients.
The court explained the sentencing reason, stating, "Kwon moved around the hospital using others' access cards to steal and committed fraud by actively deceiving others in gift certificate sales. Considering the method, frequency, and amount of damage, the nature of the crime is not good. Most of the proceeds were spent on gambling funds, and some victims have yet to be compensated."
