Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) conducted the "2023 Disaster Response Safety Korea Drill" on the afternoon of the 31st to establish a disaster response cooperation system and improve response capabilities.
On this day, more than 300 people from 14 organizations, including Mapo-gu, Mapo Police Station, and Mapo Fire Station, participated. A tabletop exercise was held at the Mapo-gu Office, while a field drill took place at the Seoul World Cup Stadium.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu and head of the Disaster Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, presided over the tabletop exercise simulating complex disasters such as terrorism, fire, and collapse. Using the disaster safety communication network (PS-LTE) devices, he communicated with the headquarters conducting the field drill, conducting the exercise as if it were a real situation.
Afterwards, he visited the Seoul World Cup Stadium and directly participated in emergency evacuation, fire suppression, and life rescue drills assuming a vehicle explosion and fire scenario.
In his closing remarks, Mayor Park Gang-su said, "I hope today's disaster response drill was a valuable opportunity to learn essential response measures for real situations. Please keep in mind that our safety is something we all must take care of, not someone else. Mapo-gu will also do its best to create a 'Safe City Mapo' where residents can feel secure."
