Nam Hyun-hee Accused of Fraud and Defamation
Jeon Cheong-jo (27), who was previously engaged to former national fencing representative Nam Hyun-hee (42) but broke up, was arrested and taken to the Songpa Police Station in Seoul.

According to the police on the 31st, Jeon was apprehended at 3:52 PM at a relative's house in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, and arrived at Songpa Police Station around 8:09 PM. When reporters asked whether Jeon admitted to the fraud charges and whether Nam was involved in the crime, Jeon did not respond. The police conducted searches at Jeon's residence in Signiel, Jamsil-dong, Songpa-gu, and at Jeon's mother's residence in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province. Jeon is accused of fraud and attempted fraud for receiving money under the pretext of investment funds, embezzling it, and inducing loans for this purpose.
On the 25th, Kim Min-seok, a member of the Gangseo District Council in Seoul, filed a complaint against Jeon on charges of fraud and attempted fraud based on a tip that Jeon used a loan brokerage platform to check credit ratings and interest rates and induced loans. Based on additional tips that Jeon embezzled 110 million won under the pretext of investment funds for a business in China, Kim submitted a petition to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. The petition also requested an investigation into suspicions that Nam was an accomplice. On the 26th, a complaint was filed with the police stating that Jeon embezzled 20 million won from a victim under the pretext of investment in app development at the end of August this year.
On the same day, Shin Hyun-il, chief judge of the Seoul Eastern District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Jeon, citing concerns that Jeon might evade summons. One of two warrants for communication and seizure was also issued, while the other seizure warrant was partially dismissed.
Nam, through her legal representative, filed a complaint and accusation against Jeon and Jeon's mother on charges including fraud. The complaint reportedly includes allegations that Jeon deceived Nam about his identity and interfered with the operation of Nam's fencing academy. Nam also filed a complaint against Councilman Kim for defamation based on false information.
