The Community Security Council of Chungjang-dong, Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 31st that it provided living expenses (700,000 KRW) to middle-aged single-person households struggling with overdue monthly rent and health insurance premiums.
Since the outbreak of COVID-19, the household had almost no income for over three years and was unable to repay credit card loans taken out for living expenses, resulting in continuous debt collection calls and long-term arrears on health insurance premiums, electricity bills, and monthly rent, making urgent assistance necessary.
Accordingly, the Chungjang-dong Community Security Council collaborated with Bitgoeul Comprehensive Social Welfare Center (Director Bae Yong-tae) and applied for the Shinhan Financial Group Hope Project Crisis Family Recovery Support Contest, and was finally selected, enabling the provision of 700,000 KRW in support.
Chairman Seon Jong-cheol said, “I am proud that we were selected for the Crisis Family Recovery Support Contest and could provide help to households in urgent need,” adding, “Going forward, the Chungjang-dong Community Security Council will take the lead in creating a warm village community where neighbors care for each other.”
