On the 31st, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongbuk, conducted the '2023 Disaster Response Safety Korea Training' at the Ulleung Public Stadium in Taeha-ri, Seomyeon, with over 130 participants from six organizations.
This training assumed a scenario where a fire spreads and develops into a forest fire. Ulleung-gun mobilized all firefighting resources to strengthen rapid cooperation among related agencies and focused on initial response.
In the event of a large-scale fire or forest fire in Ulleung-gun, assistance from other local governments is impossible. The core of this training was to gather all available firefighting equipment in one place to test response capabilities under such circumstances.
Heads of related agencies, including Ulleung Police Station, Navy 118 Squadron, Air Force 8355 Unit, Korea Electric Power Ulleung Branch, and Ulleung 119 Safety Center, directly participated in the training to enhance its effectiveness.
Nam Han-kwon, the county governor, said, “For the first time, we conducted training by mobilizing all local firefighting resources, which provided an opportunity to confirm an organic cooperation system,” adding, “We will improve and supplement the issues identified during the training to enhance disaster response capabilities.”
