Mass Vaccination Campaign Launches in 18 Cities and Counties by November 10
Gyeongnam Nonghyup announced on the 31st that it has been on high alert and is making all-out efforts to prevent the spread after the first confirmed case of Lumpy Skin Disease in Gyeongnam occurred at a Korean cattle farm located in Uichang-gu, Changwon-si on the 30th.
Since the 20th, with the consecutive occurrence of Lumpy Skin Disease cases, Gyeongnam Nonghyup raised the crisis level of Lumpy Skin Disease to a serious stage, operated an emergency quarantine headquarters, maintained a 24-hour emergency contact system, guided the implementation of government quarantine measures and rapid situation dissemination, maintained a cooperative system with local governments, promoted quarantine compliance to livestock cooperative member farms (via SNS, etc.), and operated 86 teams of the livestock cooperative joint control group and 12 teams of the NH control group at the highest level to focus all efforts on blocking quarantine.
Following an urgent directive from Director Kim Ju-yang, an ‘Emergency Quarantine Countermeasure Meeting in Response to the Occurrence of Lumpy Skin Disease in the Province’ was held on the 31st, presided over by Deputy Director Kang Moon-gyu of the Economic Headquarters.

Until 11 PM on the 31st, a 24-hour temporary movement suspension order was issued for livestock-related facility workers and vehicles in Gyeongnam region, including cattle farms, slaughterhouses, and feed factories. Additionally, 10,000 doses of Lumpy Skin Disease vaccine were secured by the 31st, and with emergency vaccine administration personnel support including veterinary doctors and assistants from the livestock cooperative, rapid vaccination will be completed for all cattle farms in the Changwon area.
For the remaining regions, vaccine supply will be completed by November 1st, and since rapid vaccination can prevent further spread, available personnel will be supported to complete the vaccination early.
Deputy Director Kang Moon-gyu stated, “To prevent further spread of Lumpy Skin Disease, we will supply fogging machines to the livestock cooperative to concentrate efforts on blood-sucking insect control work, and we plan to stock additional quarantine supplies at reserve bases for emergency support to prevent disease spread and block quarantine.”
He added, “Even after vaccination is completed, it takes about three weeks for antibody formation, so cattle farms should familiarize themselves with the correct vaccination procedures to complete vaccination quickly, conduct parasite control work such as insecticide spraying, disinfect farms and surrounding equipment, and report any suspected livestock to livestock quarantine officers without delay.”
