Kim Do-yeon, a junior student in the Department of Information Security at Dongshin University, won first place overall in the '2023 3rd Practical Cyberattack Defense Training (ELECCON 2023)' competition.
ELECCON, co-hosted by Korea Electric Power Corporation and the National Intelligence Service branch, is a training program aimed at cultivating cybersecurity professionals for national infrastructure.
The competition is conducted by dividing teams to attack and defend in a virtual environment built to closely resemble actual energy systems.
Kim Do-yeon, who has been doing standard field training at KEPCO KDN since last September, participated in this competition’s energy sector category as a two-person defense team with a KEPCO KDN employee, ranking first among eight energy institutions and first overall among 24 teams. Last year, she ranked first in the university division and second overall.
Kim Jong-min, faculty advisor of the Department of Information Security at Dongshin University, said, “Our students are growing into practical talents by participating in industry-academia cooperation project-based education and receiving continuous mentoring. We will further strengthen efforts to cultivate practical talents through regionally specialized information security education.”
