Drinking 4 Cups of Black Coffee Daily... Unexpected Benefits Revealed

Recently, researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands revealed that drinking one to up to four cups of black coffee daily can reduce kidney function damage. This research was published in the U.S. health medical media 'Medical Express.'

The researchers analyzed data from about 80,000 Dutch participants.

The results showed that each additional cup of black coffee consumed per day was beneficial for kidney health. However, the health benefits did not increase beyond the fifth cup.

In other words, drinking between one and four cups of coffee daily showed health-promoting effects.

Dr. Aniek van Vesting, one of the researchers, explained, "Drinking more than one cup of black coffee per day is good for kidney health, but these benefits stop after the fifth cup." She added, "However, this study is an observational study examining the association between coffee consumption and kidney function, not an experimental study, which is a limitation."

This aligns with previous research showing that healthy individuals who drink about three to five cups of coffee daily have a reduced risk of kidney stones and other benefits.

Additionally, moderate coffee consumption can lower the risk of type 2 diabetes. Kidney function decline often occurs as a complication of diabetes.

Moreover, coffee consumption has been found to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, liver cirrhosis, and also has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects.

The researchers emphasized, "It should be highlighted that the health-promoting effects appear only with black coffee without other additives (such as sugar or creamer)."

However, people experiencing depression or anxiety symptoms need to adjust their coffee intake according to their health condition, such as quitting coffee or limiting consumption to one or two cups per day.

Meanwhile, the kidneys filter waste from the blood to keep it clean. When kidney function declines, people may feel easily fatigued, sensitive to cold, and experience itchy skin. However, since these symptoms are not severe, chronic kidney disease is often diagnosed only when kidney function deteriorates to the point that dialysis or transplantation is necessary.
