This event integrates maritime finance-related events that were previously held individually by institutions such as the Financial Supervisory Service, Korea Maritime Promotion Corporation, and Marine Money, and is being held for the third time this year.

It is co-hosted by Busan City, the Financial Supervisory Service, Korea Maritime Promotion Corporation, and Marine Money, and organized by the Busan International Financial Promotion Institute.

This year’s event, themed "Busan, the Center of Global Maritime and Financial Industry," consists of ▲a joint opening ceremony ▲the Financial Supervisory Service’s "Busan Maritime Finance Convention" ▲Korea Maritime Promotion Corporation’s "Maritime Conference" ▲Marine Money’s "Korea Ship Finance Forum," among others.

Domestic and international scholars and experts will be invited as speakers to share the latest maritime finance trends and shipping market outlooks. The event will provide a platform for knowledge sharing through lectures and in-depth panel discussions aimed at advancing Busan as a maritime finance hub.

First, the joint opening ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. on October 31. It will include opening and welcome speeches, a keynote address by James Lawrence, Chairman of Marine Money, and a special lecture by Professor Jeon Junsu of Sogang University.

About 250 attendees from academia and the financial sector related to maritime finance, including Busan Mayor Park Hyung-jun, Financial Supervisory Service Chairman Lee Bok-hyun, Korea Maritime Promotion Corporation President Kim Yang-su, Busan International Financial Promotion Institute Director Lee Myung-ho, Marine Money Chairman James Lawrence, Korea Shipping Association Chairman Moon Chung-do, and Korea Maritime University President Do Deok-hee, will celebrate the opening.

Following this, on the same day, the Financial Supervisory Service’s "Busan Maritime Finance Convention" will hold two sessions under the themes "Changes and Response Directions in the Maritime Finance Environment" and "Maritime Finance and the Future of Busan as a Financial Hub."

Presentations on the latest global maritime finance trends and Busan City’s financial startup policy officer’s strategies for fostering the financial hub will be delivered, along with discussions on the development of Busan as a financial center.

On the next day, November 1, the Korea Maritime Promotion Corporation’s "Maritime Conference" will be held, sharing insights on global ship finance market trends, dry bulk market trends and outlook, and container ship market trends and outlook through finance and market sessions.

On the final day, November 2, Marine Money’s "Korea Ship Finance Forum" will feature sessions on "Shipping Market and Decarbonization Challenges" and "Ship Finance in Korea and the World," discussing reviews and forecasts of the shipping market.

Mayor Park Hyung-jun stated, "The integrated hosting of maritime finance events through this Busan Maritime & Finance Week is expected to create a synergistic effect by sharing key strategies of each institution and promoting active exchanges in the financial and maritime industries. Through this, Busan can take a step forward as a global maritime finance hub." He added, "Based on the opinions presented at this event, our city will seek development strategies and visions for Busan as a maritime finance center and strive to realize them concretely."
