Hong Young-geun, Head of Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, Conducts Fire Environment Inspection in Island Areas

Visit to Sinan Bigeumdo and Dochodo Islands

Hong Young-geun, head of the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, conducted an environmental inspection to ensure rapid initial response in the event of disasters in island areas.

According to the Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 30th, Director Hong visited the Sinan island areas (Bigeumdo and Dochodo) along with Ryu Dohyung, chief of the Sinan Fire Station, to inspect the fire safety environment.

This visit was carried out to minimize loss of life and property through swift initial response to various disasters such as fires in island areas.

They visited the Dochodo dedicated team and Bigeum 119 regional unit in Sinan County to inspect the sites, check the fire safety environment, and listen to the current status.

Particular focus was placed on inspecting the condition of fire access routes, operation status of fire vehicles, emergency fire extinguisher boxes, and the installation status of fire extinguisher boxes in alleyways.

During the volunteer firefighters' meeting held after the on-site inspection, the importance of volunteer firefighters in disaster sites on islands was emphasized, and ways to build active cooperative relationships were discussed.

Director Hong Young-geun stated, “Since fire infrastructure is limited in island areas, the role of volunteer firefighters is extremely important,” and added, “We ask for the active cooperation of volunteer firefighters to establish an autonomous fire safety management system.”
