ITech is expanding the application industries of its robot integrated operation solution through its subsidiary ReadN.
On the 30th, ITech announced that its subsidiary ReadN is launching the "Smart Logistics Platform Construction and Operation Project." This project is a future-oriented industrial complex development initiative overseen by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and supported by Chungnam Province and Cheonan City.
ReadN is responsible for building a smart logistics platform for companies located in Cheonan Industrial Complexes 2, 3, and 4. Robots and the Internet of Things (IoT) will be applied in the industrial complex's shared logistics warehouses and operated through an integrated operation system.
A total of 10 billion KRW will be invested in research and development for this project. As the initial stage of full-scale platform development, ReadN is currently conducting preliminary work to identify the functions and logistics flow required by the companies residing in the industrial complex.
In July, ITech participated in ReadN's paid-in capital increase, acquiring a 40.56% stake and becoming the largest shareholder. ReadN's robot integrated operation solution, "Ecor," enables integrated control by linking and interoperating different operating systems of robots from various manufacturers.
The Ecor solution is already in use at large general hospitals and some government offices. At Yongin Severance Hospital, five different types of robots are operated in connection with the Hospital Information System (HIS), and robot services for government offices have been introduced at a city hall located in Gyeonggi Province.
Min Dae-hong, CEO of ReadN, said, "We have entered an era where the design and planning considering robots must be reflected from the beginning when new infrastructure facilities like the smart logistics platform construction project are established." He added, "In the rapidly growing service robot market, integrated operation solutions like Ecor will play a pivotal role in smooth communication between robots." He further stated, "Based on ReadN's technological competitiveness, we will secure a competitive edge in the service robot market."
