KFDA Low Sugar Standard: Sugars 5g or Less per 100g
Balsamic Bocconcini Salad
Basil Cheese Conchiglie Pasta, etc.
Samsung Welstory announced on the 30th that it has developed 50 types of low-sugar Mediterranean diet meals to be offered in its corporate cafeterias.
The Mediterranean diet is a healthy meal made using representative Mediterranean ingredients high in unsaturated fatty acids such as olive oil and nuts, as well as whole grains rich in dietary fiber like oats, barley, and lentils.
According to the National Health Insurance Service, the number of diabetes patients in their 20s and 30s has increased by about 74% compared to 10 years ago, with chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension rising faster among younger generations than middle-aged groups.
The 50 Mediterranean diet menus developed by Samsung Welstory feature sugar content reduced to less than 5g per 100g in all dishes, meeting the low-sugar standards announced by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
Samsung Welstory’s R&D Center, a specialized research and development team, developed the diet by applying tzatziki sauce, a representative Greek sauce that enhances the flavor of meals, and balancing nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, and dietary fiber. Signature dishes include balsamic bocconcini salad, basil cheese conchiglie pasta, and turmeric oatmeal salad.
A Samsung Welstory official said, "We have been striving to develop and promote various healthy meals, including developing a low-sodium diet in 2013, so that customers using our corporate cafeterias can care for their health through their meals alone. Recently, diseases such as diabetes have been rapidly increasing among younger generations, and we will continue to apply care diets including low-sugar meals to help prevent and manage these diseases more easily in daily life."
