Choi Ho-gwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, is conducting a joint inspection of the Mullae-dong area together with related organizations.
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) will intensify efforts to ensure flawless safety management by conducting focused CCTV monitoring and safety inspections in crowded areas ahead of Halloween Day on the 31st.
A large crowd is expected to gather in major entertainment districts ahead of Halloween Day. In particular, there is concern that a sudden influx of many people in narrow alleys lined with cafes and restaurants could lead to casualties.
Accordingly, the district has established the "Halloween Day Crowd Safety Management Plan" and will focus on safety management in various sectors from the 27th to the 31st.
First, the CCTV Control Center will conduct 24-hour intensive monitoring of CCTV cameras, focusing on the popular restaurant streets around Mullae-dong 3-ga, where there is a high flow of people, to check for crowd congestion. In addition, the district will maintain an emergency communication system with The Hyundai Seoul and Times Square, where large crowds are expected, and share situations in real time with the disaster control room, police station, and fire station to enable rapid initial response in case of unexpected incidents or accidents.
Furthermore, the district will conduct thorough on-site safety inspections. Illegal street vendors, unauthorized storage, and illegal parking that could block passageways and hinder evacuation in case of an accident will be regulated, and outdoor signs or illegal advertisements posing a risk of falling will also be managed. The terraces or booths of restaurants and coffee shops protruding into alleys will be inspected to prevent bottlenecks during evacuation. Additionally, 27 restaurants with rooftops will be checked for the installation of railings, availability of fire prevention facilities, and the status of door openings.
Minor issues found during inspections will be immediately corrected on-site, and if serious violations are discovered, measures will be taken to ensure improvements before Halloween Day.
On the 27th, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., a joint inspection was also conducted around Mullae-dong with related organizations including Yeongdeungpo Police Station, Yeongdeungpo Fire Station, and the Autonomous Disaster Prevention Group. To prepare for any accidents, special attention was given to securing passageways so that fire trucks and rescue personnel can quickly respond.
Choi Ho-kwon, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, stated, "As a large crowd is expected this Halloween Day, we will focus on on-site safety inspections to prevent various safety accidents and respond swiftly in emergencies. Over the next five days, we will maintain an emergency duty system at the Integrated Control Center and conduct focused monitoring and on-site safety inspections to thoroughly prepare for crowd congestion situations and do our best to ensure the safety of our residents."
