Shinhan Bank announced on the 29th that it held the ‘Shinhan Bank ESG Future Generation Financial Education Festival’ on the 28th at Shinhan Bank Myeongdong Expace in Jung-gu, Seoul, and around the Namsan Dulle-gil trail.
This event was planned by expanding Shinhan Bank’s representative financial education program, the ‘Shinhan Children’s Financial Experience Classroom.’ It was designed not as a simple lecture-style education but as a program where participants could easily and enjoyably learn by directly engaging in various activities and completing missions. About 100 participants, including elementary school students and employees, took part in the event.
Shinhan Bank prepared the event by reinterpreting ‘ESG’ from the perspective of children. ‘ESG’ stands for ▲Education Value (correct financial education through experiences with passbooks, cards, and mobile banking), ▲Social Value (social value education through good deeds such as donating items in partnership with the ‘Beautiful Store’), and ▲Green Value (environment-related activities such as plogging on the Namsan Dulle-gil trail, environmental guardian pledges, and environmental protection quizzes). The participating children completed missions together with employees who acted as mentors.
A Shinhan Bank official said, “We were pleased to be able to teach important values to the children who will lead our country in the future through enjoyable activities,” adding, “We will continue to spread proper social values through expanded financial education.”
Meanwhile, since 2012, Shinhan Bank has operated various financial education programs for children, youth, and financially marginalized groups. These include the ‘Shinhan Children’s Financial Experience Classroom’ tailored to children’s perspectives and the ‘Visiting Financial Experience Classroom’ that directly visits youth. In particular, since April, through the ‘ESG Win-Win Project,’ support for financially marginalized groups such as children in childcare facilities, multicultural families, and youth preparing for independence has been expanded.
