CU Releases Detective Conan Collaboration Products Part 2

CU announced on the 29th that, riding on the popularity of the animation "Detective Conan," it will launch the second series of collaboration products on the 31st.

The 26th Detective Conan theatrical film "The Bride of Halloween," released in July, attracted a cumulative audience of 780,000, setting a new box office record among the theatrical series released domestically. At that time, CU released four collaboration products including sandwiches, rice balls, roasted eggs, and jelly to coincide with the release of "Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween." These products gained popularity among fans and achieved cumulative sales of 1 million units within three months of release.

The second series of Detective Conan collaboration products to be introduced this time consists of six items, faithfully reflecting the world of the animation just like the first series. Each product includes one of 80 types of sticker seals featuring characters from Detective Conan, enhancing fans' desire to collect them.

Following the pill-shaped jelly, CU will introduce the "Detective Conan Ribbon Jelly Strawberry Flavor (1,900 won)," shaped like the voice-changing bow tie Conan uses when deducing. The "Poirot Neapolitan Pasta (4,900 won)" replicates the popular menu of Caf? Poirot located on the first floor of the famous detective agency building where Conan is indebted. They will also release the "Ham Potato Curry Triangle Kimbap (1,200 won)," which combines curry rice with steamed potato toppings.

Additionally, there is the "Potato-filled Curry Inari Sushi (3,800 won)," planned with the concept of a famous curry restaurant menu featured in Detective Conan's spin-off "Zero's Tea Time." As the name suggests, it is topped generously with potatoes on curry rice for a hearty meal. Inspired by the Detective Conan episode "The Spicy Suspicion Curry," CU also offers the "Spicy Suspicion Curry Burger (3,700 won)" and the "Spicy Suspicion Curry Lunchbox (4,600 won)," which includes rich toppings such as potatoes, grilled green beans, and chicken karaage on spicy curry.

To commemorate the launch, CU will hold a puzzle event called "Find the Culprit Who Stole Conan's Ribbon Jelly" on its commerce app Pocket CU from November 1 to 21. Customers can open one puzzle piece each time they purchase one collaboration product and accumulate points. After deducing the culprit using hints in the puzzle, participants can enter the event. Customers who answer correctly will be entered into a draw to win prizes including Conan cushions (10 winners), Detective Conan: The Bride of Halloween CGV 4DX movie tickets (30 winners), and one box of Detective Conan Ribbon Jelly (20 winners).

Kim Kwang-min, MD of BGF Retail's Product Development Team, said, "Sales of character collaboration products increased 12 times compared to the previous year last year and have tripled this year." He added, "Following the character collaboration craze, we plan to continuously introduce differentiated products unique to CU featuring various popular characters."
