On the 27th, a post titled "A whole dishcloth in the famous baguette fresh cream ㅜㅜ" was uploaded on an internet cafe bulletin board. The author, Mr. A from Wonju, Gangwon-do, stated that he purchased a baguette and two containers of fresh cream at a Paris Baguette store in the city on the 1st, and one of the fresh cream containers contained a whole disposable dishcloth.
Mr. A described the situation, saying, "While eating the fresh cream with my daughter in her 20s, she said the cream was thick, so I stirred it with a spoon and lifted it, but when I spread and touched it, a disposable dishcloth was inside as it was." Mr. A, who revealed he has an autoimmune disease, said he felt like vomiting and was shocked but managed to calm down and contacted the franchise owner. Later, headquarters staff, realizing the seriousness of the situation, visited Mr. A's home and confirmed that the foreign substance found in the fresh cream container was indeed the disposable dishcloth they use.
Mr. A said, "How can a whole disposable dishcloth come out of food that is meant to be eaten?" and added, "For the public interest, I decided not to settle and bravely reported this. I have seen many foreign substance issues, but I never thought this would happen to me."
Members of the cafe who saw this reacted with comments such as "Ugh, I feel like vomiting," "I can't believe such a large foreign object was inside without anyone noticing," and "It's absolutely impossible unless an employee deliberately put it in."
According to Mr. A, Paris Baguette initially offered a settlement of 100,000 won, on the condition that he would not disclose the fact that a disposable dishcloth was found in the fresh cream. After Mr. A delayed the settlement due to health issues, Paris Baguette continued to contact him several times and raised the settlement amount to 500,000 won.
Regarding this, SPC Group, the parent company of Paris Baguette, stated, "We are collecting the disputed dishcloth and verifying whether it came from the relevant franchise store," adding, "(The informant) requested compensation and contact was lost during the settlement process. We need to check how and what kind of foreign substance got in."
