Another Accident in Dalat, Vietnam Claims Life of a Korean in His 60s, Following Deaths of Four Koreans

Fell After Misstepping at the Summit of Langbiang Mountain

On the 24th (local time), another Korean tourist died in Dalat, a famous tourist destination in Vietnam, where four Korean travelers were swept away and killed by rapids. According to the Vietnamese local media 'VN Express,' a Korean tourist in his 60s slipped and fell 4 meters down near the summit of Langbiang Mountain close to Dalat the day before.


The tourist reportedly fell while taking photos at the mountain summit with his traveling companions. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital but eventually passed away. It was reported that there was a 'fall warning' sign in the accident area.

Langbiang Mountain, located 12 km from Dalat, reaches an altitude of 1,200 meters above sea level. The Ho Chi Minh Consulate General, which oversees the Lam Dong Province area, dispatched staff to the accident site and is providing consular assistance to the bereaved family. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Vietnam is currently investigating the specific circumstances of the accident.


Meanwhile, on the 24th, four Korean tourists were swept away and killed by rapids in the Dalat area. At the time, they were participating in an off-road tour, riding an off-road vehicle along a river. During the tour, the water level in the river was reportedly about ankle-deep. However, heavy rain had fallen in the area for three days prior, raising the risk of rising water levels.


The tour product was immediately suspended after the accident. Additionally, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh ordered the responsible departments and local authorities in the accident area to conduct a detailed investigation and handle the situation. Prime Minister Chinh also expressed condolences to the families who lost loved ones in the accident. Dalat, located in Vietnam's highlands, boasts cool weather year-round. Thanks to its beautiful natural scenery, including lakes and waterfalls, it is a popular destination among Korean tourists.
