Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon is responding during the recent National Assembly audit on Gyeonggi Province.
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated, "Meeting with the opposition party leader, replacing the head of economic policy to change fiscal policy, meeting the bereaved families of the Itaewon tragedy, and resolving the Yangpyeong issue will make the public trust the government transition."
On the 27th, Governor Kim appeared on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus' and said, "There are strong suspicions regarding a specific person's land at the terminus (Gangsa-myeon, Yangpyeong-gun) of the Seoul-Yangpyeong Expressway modification plan. Can the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport resolve this?" He added, "The original plan (terminus at Yangseo-myeon) is the correct answer, and if Yongsan (the Presidential Office) takes responsibility and resolves it, it could serve as a signal for the government transition and leave a good impression on the public."
He also said, "I met with the bereaved families of the Itaewon tragedy yesterday, and what angers them the most is that the Presidential Office called the first anniversary rally a political rally. That is truly wrong." He advised, "If the President attends the first anniversary rally, shares the pain, embraces them, and promises to correct the mistakes, it could be a good opportunity for the government transition."
Governor Kim further added, "We need to meet with the opposition party leader (Lee Jae-myung) and change policies by replacing the head of economic policy."
Regarding the integration of transportation card policies such as Seoul's 'Climate Companion Card' and Gyeonggi Province's 'The Gyeonggi Pass,' which emerged as an issue during the Gyeonggi Province audit, he said, "There is room for consultation with Seoul and Incheon." He continued, "A three-party meeting with the mayors of Seoul and Incheon is scheduled for December 24th, and since both are not exclusive-minded, we will try to find common ground."
On the controversy over the incorporation of Gimpo City into Seoul, linked to the establishment of the Northern Gyeonggi Special Self-Governing Province, he firmly stated, "It is not yet a matter to consider and is unrealistic."
