Jungnangcheon Yellow Cosmos and Four Seasons Roses in Full Bloom! Four Seasons Rose

Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) is seeing a continuous flow of residents visiting the banks of Jungnangcheon, where vibrant autumn flowers are in full bloom.

Since the end of last year through early this year, the district has planted 'Sagyejangmi' (Four Seasons Roses), which bloom in three seasons except winter, as part of the Flower City project to create a year-round rose-lined walking path along Jungnangcheon.

Considering the characteristic of Sagyejangmi that blooms about 60 days after cutting the flower stalk, pruning was completed last summer, and recently, 430,000 Sagyejangmi flowers have fully bloomed along the 5.6 km walking path on the banks of Jungnangcheon. The Sagyejangmi, which reached full bloom at the end of October, is expected to continue blooming until the onset of winter.

Since early this year, the district has made the Jungnangcheon area a local attraction where residents can enjoy flowers while walking by planting tulips symbolizing spring, cockscomb representing summer, and yellow cosmos representing autumn in the Sagye Garden along Jungnangcheon.

Additionally, in the second half of the year, the district plans to further plant crape myrtle and roses under Gunja Bridge and Jungnang Bridge (about 2,500㎡), and in November, tulip bulbs will be planted to create a vibrant tulip garden by next spring. The district will continue to maintain the Jungnangcheon area as a walking path adorned with flowers throughout the four seasons.

Lee Pil-hyung, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “Dongdaemun has many beautiful places such as the Jungnangcheon ‘Four Seasons Flower Complex’ and the ‘Field of Knowledge’ at the Jeonnong-dong Public Library site. This autumn, I hope everyone visits the Jungnangcheon flower path or the Field of Knowledge to enjoy a pleasant walk with flowers and have a healing time.”
